Cooking tip.

Here is a handy cooking tip that all chefs should take note of. If you have placed a pan in the oven at 350 degrees for 90+ minutes, do not, I repeat, do NOT grab the metal handle with your bare hand. It will hurt. A LOT. It will also continue to hurt some time after you have released the aforementioned burning hot handle. Just a friendly piece of advice, which I suggest that you take to heart.

I learned this little tip in what can only be described as "the hard way" as I was preparing for my parents' first dinner at our apartment. I just got so frazzled and nervous about them coming over that I just forgot what I was doing.

But to (quite literally) add insult to injury, I got the distinct impression that my parents thought that Anne cooked everything! What the hell is up with that? I don't want to say that I do most of the cooking in our little family, but I certainly do more of the cooking, especially for entrees. Anne is more of a sides and desserts kind of chef. So maybe you can understand that to have my parents thank Anne (and not me) for the dinner is kind of upsetting.

Other than the painful burning and possible snub at the end, however, I thought that it went very well.

p.s. Not that anyone reading this is likely to need this warning, but if anybody pinches me today, I'm going to slap them upside the head, St. Patrick's Day or not.
